Writer's Prompt: How About 11 Of Them?
Usually, I post a writing prompt on Wednesdays. This week, I want to let you know about my newest zine, which features a collection of prompts—11 in all. Some of the prompts are repeats of those found on my blog, but a few I made especially for this zine.
A zine is a self-published, mini magazine devoted to just about any topic that sparks an author's imagination. For me, it's collage, but zines have their roots in political action. They evolved from flyers and pamphlets people used to make for protest and to educate the public about issues that were not always covered in the mainstream press. My zine, Janyce Collages, so far is pretty benign, but many zines have an underground, anti-establishment bent and can be a fascinating and eye-opening read.
This version of Janyce Collages contains colored prints of 11 different writing prompts from "It's such a delicate balance" to "The woman with the gold rings died in the archway." Each prompt is accompanied by a collaged image to spark your imagination for a song, poem, or story. The zine also contains an essay titled "What is it with words?", a poem by Alfred Kreymborg, a book review, Q&A from shows, and my show schedule. It is available through my gift shop and my Etsy shop.
