More and more applications for shows are asking the question: Is any of your work made from recycled or repurposed materials? As an experiment, I pulled a bunch of cardboard out of the recycle bin and started cutting and pasting.

I kind of liked the piece just like this--with the colors from the cardboard boxes. But...I grabbed some black paint and covered over the whole image. I was thinking of the work of Louise Nevelson. She used all black or all white or all gold in many of her pieces.

But...

Five Vases with Flowers (2018). Work in progress. Cardboard and acrylics on 24" x 36" canvas. I wasn't content leaving the piece black. I'm now in the process of adding color. This is the largest canvas I've worked on, so far. I thought it would be intimidating to work on a canvas this size, but I'm actually enjoying the challenge of something new. Not sure when this will be finished, but I will definitely let you know. Purchase finished collage art here . Follow me on Facebook and Instagram . Cheers!--Janyce
