Happy 2018! This is my first post of the year. I took a break the last couple weeks of December and feel energized and ready to make some collages!

I've been thinking a lot about inspiration–what's motivating, what's not–and how fleeting it can be at times. I marvel at all the collage artists who put their ideas on canvas (regardless of so-called "success" or notoriety) all for a chance to discover some truth (or not) with each project.

Sometimes, inspiration comes from people who are not practicing artists. I met a lot of people last year at the shows I did and, with every conversation, got a chance to see the world in a different way. I am constantly amazed and, yes inspired, by how creative people can be.

Some of my new projects involve ideas either from those conversations, from the hours of reading I did about collage, and from techniques I learned from my parents, grandparents, and others growing up.

I will talk more about these projects in future blog posts, but for today, I want to give a big shout out to "inspiration" and to all those who've gone before us.

Wishing you all a prosperous, healthy, happy, successful new year.
