Featured Collage: Lobsters in Bloom
This week's featured collage, Lobsters in Bloom, is a layered paper collage I made using hand-stamped and altered paper. It is a whimsical take on lobsters, which are a Maine icon. Lobsters in Bloom was inspired by the fabric lobster ornaments I used to make, as well as images I took from my back yard. The 16" x 20" x .75" original is available here.
I was honored to have my collage, Lobsters in Bloom, featured in the January 2017 issue of Kolaj magazine. The article, written by Ric Kasini Kadour, discussed Collage Painting, in which some collage artists (like me), use collage arrange collage fragments "into a compositional whole where the gestalt of the picture is the art". (p.32) Other artists featured in the article included Carole Bleistein, Colin Talcroft, Benon Lutaaya, and Eva Richardson.
Along with the original, I am also offer Lobsters in Bloom as prints, greeting cards, t-shirts, tote bags, mugs and more. These are available through my shop at Pixels.com. The link is here and in the SHOP drop down menu at the top of this page
