Inspiration Sunday - Images from My Back Yard

Often, I draw inspiration from the photographs I take on my walks around my neighborhood and the places I visit. I like the idea of incorporating elements of my local environment into my artwork.

With camera in hand, I'm more likely to be looking for and noticing some surprising objects, than when I am just "spacing out" walking. I loved coming across these shells in a tree on a beach in Massachusetts. (Here, I'm using "my back yard" very loosely to include New England).

Likewise, I was thrilled to discover these lupine, iris and chives are all color coordinated. I'd like to take credit for planning this, but...uh...nope!

These are just some of the colors, shapes and textures that inspired my Lobsters in Bloom collage, which I will be featuring on Wednesday. The original is available here.
