Anne Ryan Inspired Art Journal Entries
Yesterday, I wrote about collage artist Anne Ryan. After learning about her, I spent a few days in my art journal playing around with shapes and colors inspired by her work.
I chose a collage with a color palette I don't normally use and experimented, first trying to mimic one of the collages she did with paper and fabric in acrylic paint.
The shape of the trees in this photograph and the mood seemed like a good starting place to work on an art journal page using colors from the first Anne Ryan study.
What I came to appreciate about Ryan's work is how difficult it is to keep things simple. I keep wanting to add "just one more thing" to my work. Perhaps the trick is to remember that walk on a winter's day--no cars or people, just me, a new fallen snow, and a row of trees--and stop when the noise of the world begins to intrude.
