Power's Back Up!

How'd you like to thread a needle through all of this? (2017). Picture Poem. Layered paper collage on 4" x 5" mixed media paper.

It has been an interesting few days. A storm the beginning of the week knocked out power in lots of places on the east coast of the United States, including my area in Maine. Four days without power is enough to put a few things into perspective. First, I am keenly aware that though inconvenient for me, this situation could have been a lot worse. Second, thank you to all the crews working on the lines and members of the community supporting each other through this. There are still people in my area without power, which may not be recovered until some time this coming week. Third, I will take heat over electricity any day, though both, I see now, are a luxury (as I sit here warm in my home sipping a hot cup of coffee).

I will be spending this weekend (at least) cleaning up the debris in my yard. I will also be setting my sights on the show next weekend: the Maine Harvest Festival at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. I hope people will still want to come out and enjoy the food, entertainment, arts and crafts, and other demonstrations. The show is 10am to 4pm both Saturday and Sunday.

I hope to get back into regularly posting now that things are beginning to settle down.
