Sketch: Maple Leaves

I was reading about how to make skeleton leaves to use in collage. It seems like a cool idea--and I still may try it--but it got me thinking how to make my own leaves with structure.

After playing around a bit with different papers, I came up with tissue paper maple leaves with thread as the veins. The less paint I use, the more transparent the leaves become when glued down to a substrate. I expect rice paper would also work really well. I am going to keep playing with this idea.

I can definitely see these having a role in some upcoming artwork.
