How "Show Season" Is Shaping Up
Perhaps it's the snow still on the ground in Maine as we come to the end of March, but I'm getting antsy for "show season." Last year was my first time out with the Collages. I did three shows in all: Winthrop Sidewalk Art Festival, United Church of Underhill's Old-Fashioned Harvest Market, and UMaine Alumni's Craft Show and Maine Marketplace.
I am still waiting to hear back from a few art festivals, but here's how this show season is shaping up so far:
- USM Gorham Craft Show - April 22, 2017 at the Costello Sports Complex, USM Gorham Campus. 10am to 4pm. Donations Accepted for Admission - Free Parking - Concessions
Proceeds benefit the University of Southern Maine men's & women's soccer and field hockey teams. I don't have my booth assignment. I'll post more about this show soon.
- Mad River Craft Fair - September 2 and 3, 2017 in Waitsfield, VT. I have verbal confirmation of this show, so I think it's fine to add this here. I'll post more when the official paperwork comes in.
- UMaine Homecoming Craft Fair and Maine Marketplace - October 14 and 15, 2017 at the New Balance Field House, UMaine Orono Campus. This is my second year at this show. I'm in booth D-9 -- the same as last year. I'm in the back, so wear your sneakers!
- Maine Harvest Festival - November 11 and 12, 2017 at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, ME. 10am to 4pm both days. This is my first time at this show with my collages. Still waiting on my booth assignment, but I'll be on the main floor. Details to come.
I heard back from the Portland Fine Craft Show, August 26, 2017. I'm on the wait list, so prooobably won't be at that show this year. I might go anyway, just to have a look-see.
I'm waiting to hear back from the Greater Gardiner River Festival (June 17), Winthrop Sidewalk Art Festival (August 19), and the United Church of Underhill Old-Fashioned Harvest Market (September 23 and 24). Fingers crossed I get in, but happy for the opportunity to try even if I don't!
I'm still looking for an art fair/craft show in May, preferably in Maine, if anyone knows of one that still has open applications.
Hope to see you at the shows!
